What is Cosmos?

Cosmos is a blockchain ecosystem created to enhance interoperability among different blockchain networks without a central authority. Its system of open-source blockchains can communicate seamlessly and fast, thanks to its network of interconnected apps and services. Cosmos enables developers to create decentralized and sovereign blockchain applications called zones, which connect to each other through hubs. The platform’s native cryptocurrency is called ATOM and secures the network through staking. Compared to Ethereum, Cosmos is faster and more sustainable, and it offers a developer-friendly environment. However, Ethereum is still the most popular platform for DeFi, NFTs, and the Metaverse.
